Dr. Ravon L. Alford
Doctor of Philosophy in Education with Criminal Justice and Public Administration
My passion for helping those impacted by justice issues began years ago during a service-learning course at University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. Tutoring James, a teen in a rehabilitation center, opened my eyes to the challenges he faced due to his background. James' story ignited a fire in me to pursue my PhD in understanding and addressing these systemic issues. His impact on my life is profound, and I dedicate my work to empowering others like him to overcome societal barriers and make positive changes.

This dissertation explores how different types of convictions affect employment for those leaving prison. It shows how hard it is for them to find jobs, which can lead to more crime. The study aims to help create better policies to support these individuals in finding work after release.

YOU!
In the words of Tabitha Brown,
‘Ooh God, I thank you!’
This Ph.D. journey has been tough, but God’s grace and protection got me through. Grateful for every miracle, tear wiped, and stranger's kindness. I'm a walking testimony of faith and determination. To God be the glory, and thank you to my village and city! We made it!
